We've stayed at Skyland many times over the years and enjoy our trips in the cool weather of late Fall. This time we were at the far end of the cabin/condos on the bottom terrace area. It sure gave us a good view of Luray and Shenandoah Valley. The hike up Stony Man was nice but very cold and windy at the top. Julie, Jesse, their kids, Carrie and Joe joined us for the weekend. It was a fun weekend.
Ravens Nest, our home away from home...
The top to end units were ours.
Here's a panorama pic off our balcony. It was beautiful.
Had to try a video to capture the full horizon. Of course, it could have used a tripod. ;)
Love the milkweed pods in the Fall...
Deb, Aubrey, Carrie, Joe, Jesse, Julie and Brynn, in front of the fire place, warming up.
Julie and Carrie were trying to get a ride at noon but they ran out of horses.
Aubrey got to ride a pony though. She had fun.
Jesse, Brynn, Julie and Aubrey on top of Stony Man.
A lot of others were on top of Stony Man too.
Shooting down on Skyline Drive, you can see the trees are naked now.
A rock where folks train for climbing. This is a great rapelling spot. Had to do the zoom in so you could see the people.
Zoomed out view of Shenandoah valley and the Luray Reservoir.
Zooming in, seeing if the Canon SX130 can handle it.
Carrie and Brynn waiting for dinner.
Sunset on our back porch at Skyland
Yeah, more milkweed pods.... gotta take their picture, they smile so nice, they're poofy
Just before we left I caught this squirrel on the ground below our room. A photogenic squirrel... snap snap
